The team at Oakham Fire Station are bringing some festive cheer this Christmas, and need your support.

They are accepting donations and nominations for their annual shoebox appeal, and this year are also offering warm parcels to keep the chill away for local families this winter.

Staff at Oakham Fire Station have been collecting your contributions to their shoebox appeal, and are now asking Oakham residents to nominate someone that they know who is in need of a little help this Christmas.

You can nominate a Rutland resident to receive a shoebox of Christmas goodies, or a warm pack filled with hats, gloves scarves, blankets and more to make this Christmas a cosy one.

The team shared the initiative on social media: "Spread some warmth and joy this Christmas!

"Do you know someone in need of a little extra cheer this holiday season? We're collecting nominations for individuals, families or elderly residents who would benefit from some gifts and goodies ahead of Christmas."

Simply send the team a private message on Facebook or email [email protected] with the details of your nominee, including name, gender and age.

The team added: "We'll do our best to bring some Christmas magic their way!

"This year we also have warm packs filled with hats, gloves, scarfs and water bottles to help make this season warmer for those who need it most.

"Nominate someone today and be a part of making this Christmas special for those who could use some extra love. Your support means the world to us!"
