This weekend, Oakham Market Place will play host to a Traditional Christmas event.

On Sunday 17 December, Oakham Market Place will be closed for the anticipated Traditional Christmas event, organised by Oakham & Rutland Events.

The day is set to be packed full of festive cheer, and attendees can enjoy live music, festive drinks and snacks, street food, snow - and perhaps even a visit from Santa himself.

This follows Oakham Late Night Shopping, which took place on Monday 11 December and saw hundreds flock to Rutland's county town. Also expected to be popular, this weekend's event will take place from 11am until 4pm.

Carolyn Acton-Reed said: "We look forward to seeing you there!"

While stall holders have not bee confirmed, Carolyn has promised a hot roast chestnut stall and a host of other traditional festivities to get you in the Christmas spirit.

The team concluded: "The marketplace in Oakham will be closed all day on Sunday 17 December due to the traditional Christmas Market event. We apologise for any disruption this may cause. Thank you for your understanding."
