A huge range of festive events are set to take place across Oakham and Rutland this Christmas, including markets, raffles, parties and more involving local businesses and charities.

Mega Clearance Sale

On Friday 1 December, the Bradshaw Taylor clearance sale is back in the warehouse behind Sigma Sports on Oakham's South Street. 

This is a great event to stock up on socks and pants and other classic Christmas gift garments, or to treat yourself to a new outfit to keep you toasty as the temperature drops this December. 

The sale will be taking place once again in the warehouse in Oakham, Rutland, LE15 6BG, opposite Oakham Fire Station and next to Sigma Sports:

Friday 1 December 2023, 2pm - 7pm

Saturday 2 December 2023, 9am - 5pm

Sunday 3 December 2023, 10am - 4pm

Christmas Table Top Sale

Join the Market Overton community for a festive table top sale on Saturday 2 December.

Entry is free to shoppers, and to sell your goods, tables cost £5.

There will be a range of goods, snacks and refreshments and a tombola.

Advent Ring Workshop

Join an Advent Ring workshop at Rutland Farm Park from 10am until 1pm on 2 December.

Includes a hot chocolate and a cookie.

Vino and Vinyl Christmas Edition

Vino and Vinyl is back on Saturday 2 December 2023 from 10am - 4pm

Planned to coincide with the Great Stamford Vinyl Fair, this will be the last of these ever popular events for 2023.

Both warehouses 18B and 18D on Oakham Enterprise Park will be open for you to taste some lovely wines with us, and also take the rare opportunity to explore the eclectic collections of Rutland's very own Brian Webster.

Our quirky ex-brewer, moth expert and Vinyls retailer extraordinaire will once more also be opening his warehouse to the public for the day.

There is no charge to attend this event and no minimum purchase. Please just come along and enjoy yourselves tasting wines and vinyl browsing, and end your search for exceptional Christmas presents.

Rutland Garden Centre Christmas Craft Fair

Rutland garden centre is holding its final Craft Fair for 2023 on 2 and 3 December from 10am until 3pm.

Come and support a small family run business that is helping local crafters and or small businesses show of their talent and beautifully creadted products. The November fair was a huge hit with both our crafters and customers. 

The crumble and hot chocolate hut will also be open again for that perfect winter warmer.

Rutland Big Christmas Market

The Rutland Big Christmas Market is getting ready to host over 75 small businesses from across Rutland, Leicestershire and the surrounding areas at a Christmas extravaganza this weekend. 

Come along to Rutland Hall near Oakham on Sunday 3 December from 11am until 5pm and join in the festivities. 

This Christmas shopping extravaganza promises a day packed with festive cheer. 

The best part? It comes with FREE entry and FREE parking for all visitors!

Welland Vale Craft and Christmas Market

Welland Vale garden centre in Uppingham is holding a Christmas market and crafts event on Sunday 3 December 2023 from 10am until 4pm.

There will be lots of local artisan sellers with gift and craft stalls, visiting choirs, a willow weaving workshop (only a few available spaces left to book) and other crafts to try.

Attendees will also be able to do pottery painting with Santa, and the orchard cafe will be serving a turkey and trimmings Christmas dinner (booking required for both).

The team have also launched the Christmas department in the garden centre, and will be stocking fresh cut Christmas trees. 

Parking is free and stalls will be taking cash and card, so be sure to bring both.

Oakham Light Switch On

The annual switch on of the Oakham Christmas tree and lights will take place on 3 December at 5pm.

One lucky resident who has entered the raffle will be doing the honours, with the winner being announced at 4:45pm on the day. Find out how to enter here.

There will be stalls selling crafts and food, as well as fair rides, games and more - and there will be free mince pies!

NSPCC Christmas Concert

This NSPCC Christmas Concert will welcome Mary Berry, TV presenter, baker and national treasure on 4 December - as well as members of the local community, town officials and Rutland musicians.

This event has raised over £280,000 for the national charity in the past, and this year the team hope to add to this impressive total.

Tickets are limited and cost £15, and are available at James Sellicks in Oakham or The Falcon Hotel in Uppingham.

The event will begin at 7:30pm at All Saints Church, Church Street, Oakham, Rutland, LE15 6AA.

Wreath Making at Rutland Hall

Join a wreath making event at Rutland Hall on 5 December at 1:30pm and 6 December at 6:30pm. Tickets cost £65pp and should be booked in advance by contacting the hotel.

Arrive to a glass of fizz and a mince pie before enjoying a few hours of cutting, wiring and styling, under the guidance of experienced florist, Trish Harris, from Floral Dimensions.

Visit from Santa

Rutland Garden Centre is hosting a Visit from Santa Brunch and Afternoon Tea event on Thursday 7 and Thursday 14 December.

We have booking forms available in the garden centre shop where you can state the day and time that you would like to attend. The slots are for one hour but this includes your brunch or 'santea', a story with Mrs Claus and a gift.

Oakham Baptist have a Christmas Mini Market and Christmas Crafts for kids event on 9 December, 10am-3pm.

Rutland Choral Society Christmas Concert

Rutland Choral Society Christmas Concert is set to take place on 9 December 2023 at All Saints Parish Church, Oakham.

Enjoy festive music and Christmas carols.

Oakham Late Night Shopping

On Monday 11 December, Oakham High Street, Mill Street and Market Place will once again play host to the annual Late Night Shopping event ahead of Christmas. 

Shops will open late and there will be games, stalls, food, local sellers and much more for all the family.

Christmas Psychic Supper

The Rutland Garden Village team are welcoming back Simon Goodfellow for a Christmas Psychic Supper in Radish. These events always sell out so do not delay in purchasing your tickets, ideal for a company Christmas night out

Tickets cost £30 per person and this includes nibbles for the table plus a supper. Drinks and desserts are sold separately.

Christmas Cocktail Making Workshop

Ovation's festive workshop event is coming up on 14 December 2023.

D'Ukes Christmas Concert

Set in the historic and spectacular surroundings of the Great Hall of Oakham Castle, The D'ukes of Rutland are performing a free Christmas entertainment on Saturday 16 December at 1.30pm. 

They will be covering songs recorded by a range of artists from Bing Crosby to Steppenwolf, and the Beatles to Roy Orbison. The twenty or so D'ukes are accompanied by musical friends on bass, cajon and banjo. Don't expect George Formby think more George Harrison a real ukulele oficionado. 

The concert starts at 1.30 but it's best to be a little earlier as seating is limited in the Great Hall. Castle Cafe is open for refreshments and the Castle staff will rearrange the courtroom furniture so you have the chance to enjoy the concert from the dock!

On 9 and 16 December, Rutland Farm Park is hosting an Afternoon Tea with Santa event on the farm.

Enjoy a walk around the farm before sitting down with Santa from 3pm until 5pm.

Enjoy a traditional Christmas in Oakham this December.

On 17 December 2023, head into the heart of Oakham Market Town for some traditional Christmas pleasures, from a choir, to hot mulled wine and festive stalls - and maybe a visit from Santa himself!

Take part in festive crafts and a story session for children aged 4 - 11. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Aladdin

Stamford Pantomime Players are bringing Aladdin to the stage just down the road from Oakham, in Stamford this December.

This is a great adventure where Aladdin, a poor laundry boy, falls in love with the Emperor's daughter Jasmine, but to gain her hand in marriage he must have wealth. Abanazar, the evil sorcerer gains the trust of Widow Twankey, Aladdin's mother, and pretends to be his long-lost relative.

Abanazar offers Aladdin all the treasure he can find if he will help him seek out the magic cave, and all they want in return is an old lamp! But once inside the cave, Aladdin can't find the lamp and in anger Abanazer locks him in, but with the help from the 'Slave of the Ring' Aladdin awakes The Genie of the Lamp who offers him all the jewels in the cave, which is all he needs to marry Jasmine, together they head home to get his bride.

But there is a twist, Abanazer tricks the Emperor into handing over the lamp and then kidnaps the Emperor and Jasmine and tells her she has to marry him, which of course, she doesn't want to do. Can Aladdin save the day and find true love?

Find out from 22 December until 1 January at Stamford Corn Exchange, with a range of matinee and evening performances scheduled.

Christmas Eve Breakfast with Santa

Join the team for a magical morning at the Blue Cow Inn as they celebrate Christmas Eve with a special Breakfast with Santa event on 24 December.

Indulge in a scrumptious breakfast spread featuring a variety of delicious options, from sizzling bacon to fluffy scrambled eggs. And the best part? Santa himself will be making a special appearance, spreading joy and cheer to all the little ones! 

Children cost £7.50, and adults cost £9.50, plus all children who meet Santa will receive a free gift.
