A local flower club has celebrated National Flower Arranging Day, hosted their annual dinner and is getting ready to welcome new visitors to club.

The Rutland Flower Club celebrated National Flower Arranging Day earlier this month by hosting a pop-up stall at Oakham Library and by leaving small posies of flowers around the County in church porches, bus stops, village halls, on benches and other public places for people to find, take home and enjoy.

The pop-up stall in the library was really well attended with bookmarks, bracelets, buttonholes and small posies of flowers to take away, with children and adults all enjoying the fun and friendship that flowers bring.

The Club's Annual Dinner was held for the second year at the Rutland Water Golf Club on 7 May 2024 and was attended by 34 members. A superb meal, raffle and evening was enjoyed by all.

We're looking forward to our next demonstration on Tuesday 4 June when Louisa Rigden will be demonstrating her theme "Regal Flowers". Visitors are welcome to attend our meetings which are usually held on the first Tuesday of each month, 7pm for 7.30pm in the Methodist Church, Northgate, Oakham, LE15 6QS, and costs £8 per meeting.

A spokesperson for the club added: "Our Spring Workshop "Courting Contemporary" is to be held on Saturday 8 June 2024 from 1.15pm to 4pm in Wing Village Hall and promises to be a fun afternoon. Tutor, Sue Sewell, will be demonstrating and encouraging us to create some quick and easy flower designs for our homes with a contemporary twist."

If you'd like to join the fun, please contact Sue Sewell on 07771537705 or email [email protected] for further details.

The team concluded: "We'd love to see you there!"
