A local garage have warned the public about a scam concerning used car sales.

The team at Rutland Prestige Centre were called out to a home in the area this week by a Mercedes owner who had been attempting to sell their vehicle.

The owner and seller of the vehicle claimed that a group of people had visited their home to view the car and, while the owner was distracted, poured oil into the coolant header tank.

The intent of these potential buyers was to make it appear as if the engine had a major issue to drive the price of the car down.

Thankfully, the seller spotted them and sent the scam artists on their way.

Rutland Prestige Centre helped the car owner extract the oil and fixed the issue, but it could have been much worse for the unsuspecting victim.
