Oakham South's May Surgery has been cancelled due to the Local Elections and upcoming Coronation.

Liberal Democrat Councillors Paul Browne, Ray Payne and Joanna Burrows host a monthly surgery for Oakham residents to share their thoughts, worries and stories concerning the local area.

The trio host a monthly surgery on the first Saturday of the month, where residents can pop by, share their thoughts and concerns with the councillors, and stay in touch with the Lib Dem team.

This meeting takes place at the Brook Whipper-In Hotel, which is currently being renovated and will be renamed The George.

Find them at Oakham Market Place, Oakham, LE15 6DT.

Due to a range of events going on, including the Coronation, Bank Holiday and upcoming Local Elections, the team have decided to cancel their May surgery.

Cllr Ray Payne said: "We have decided, out of courtesy to His Majesty King Charles III and his Coronation, not to hold a Surgery in May.

"We are sure that many people will be watching the Coronation Service on the day and, since it follows so closely after the local elections, we feel that it is unlikely that anyone will feel the need to attend.

"We have been busy meeting with our residents all month and have already covered a lot of issues that have arisen as a result of the campaign.

"We also don’t know at this stage which of us is going to be elected or not and consequently who will be available to hold the next Surgery.

We thank residents for their keen participation so far."
