Local gardens in and around Rutland will be open to the public as a part of the National Garden Scheme, an annual initiative hosted across the country to raise money for nursing, caring and gardening charities.

Every year, the National Gardens Scheme opens more than 3,500 gardens to the public and raises money for nursing and health charities through admissions, teas and cake.

A spokesperson for the group said: "By opening your garden, you're not only giving people a great day out – you're also raising money to help those in need."

In November 2022, the National Garden Scheme announced donations of £3.11 million to its beneficiary charities, including Marie Curie, Parkinson's UK and more.

Another local woman is also raising money for Parkinson's UK by running London2Paris in May. Read more here.
