Alicia Kearns, MP for Rutland and Melton, has renewed her campaign to install a ticket machine at Oakham train station.
Following the closure of almost all of England's rail ticket offices earlier this year, in August the Conservative MP launched a campaign for a new ticket machine at Oakham station.
Ms Kearns is calling for residents to add their name to her petition online, which will be presented to East Midlands Railway.
Alicia Kearns, Member of Parliament for Rutland and Melton said: "Oakham is the only train station in Rutland, and it is wrong that we don't have a single ticket machine.
"As many of you will know, Transport Focus’ public consultation on the proposals to shut manned ticket offices has now closed, so thank you to all of you who took the time to complete it.
"I am continuing to do all I can to fight against the proposals, however the ticket office at Oakham closes at 2.15pm each day.
"It is vital that we also have a ticket machine after these hours so that those passengers who can’t use a mobile or contactless are not excluded from accessing this service.
"I would encourage everyone who feels as strongly as I do about this to sign my petition on my website, which I will present to our local rail companies."
Alicia has recently written to the Managing Director of East Midlands Railway to highlight her concerns about the train operator's proposals to close the ticket office at Oakham Railway Station.
She has also responded to The Passenger Watchdog Transport Focus public consultation, which closed at the start of the month.
It prompted over 460,000 people to respond.
As a result of the survey and backlash from the closure of most UK ticket offices, train operators have proposed changes to the majority of rail station ticket offices in England.
