The A606 Burton Road will be closed between Burton Lazars and Melton Mowbray from today, 1 July 2024.

This closure is required to safely complete the construction of the new roundabout as part of the North and East Melton Mowbray Distributor Road.

Rutland County Council shared: "Please be advised that due to the construction of a new roundabout, the A606 Burton Road will be closed from today until 7pm on Sunday 25 August."

Diversions will be in place during this period.

In addition,  the R1 Bus Service will be diverted at Whissendine and will travel along Stapleford Road and the B676 Saxby Road to enter Melton and back out the same way.

The R1 will call at Melton Vale Sixth Form College at 08:34 and 15:35 only from 1 July and 17 July. No other changes have been made to the timetable but delays are likely.

The bus stops on Melton Road and Oakham Road in Whissendine will not be in use, and temporary bus stops will be in place on Stapleford Road during this period.
