Local schoolgirl raises money for cancer charity selling handmade bracelets
Maizie Whitbread, a student at Catmose College in Rutland, has been working hard to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
The 13-year-old Catmose schoolgirl is raising money for Cancer Research by making bracelets, inspired by her mother, who survived breast cancer.
Cancer Research UK was formed in 2002, and relies upon support from ordinary people across the county who fundraise and donate in the hopes of eradicating cancer.
Their pioneering work into how to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer has benefitted millions of lives over the past 120 years, and continues to do so with the support of generous individuals like Maizie.
Proud mum, Kirsty Whitbread, said: "Maizie decided to raise money for Caner Research UK as I had breast cancer, and she had to see me go through chemotherapy, radiotherapy and a full double mastectomy and reconstruction.
After all of this, she just wanted to give back to Cancer Research in the hopes that, one day, they will find a cure for the horrible disease.
"She's been so well supported by her school friends and people around Oakham. Hopefully her efforts will inspire other children to support charities."
Kirsty is currently on a cancer research trial, both mum and daughter giving back following Kirsty's battle.
Maizie isn't only a generous crafter, but earlier this year she competed in International Dance Federation Championships in Lithuania.

Congratulations to Maizie on raising £110 for Cancer Research UK.
