Staff at a Rutland hotel have teamed up with the local community to take part in a 22-mile charity walk along the scenic shores of Rutland Water – as part of its fundraising efforts for a vital cause.

Rutland Hall Hotel invited the community to lace up their walking boots on Sunday and join them in covering a 5-mile relay leg of the scenic 22-mile route around Rutland Water. Starting at the hotel, which sits on the shores of the man-made reservoir, volunteers were split into four groups before being transported to a different point around the perimeter to start their 5-mile charity stroll.

Offering the perfect blend of challenge and leisure, the walk was enjoyed by all ages - from three years to 60 plus, and varying fitness levels. The aim was to get everyone walking and talking together while raising awareness and funds for an essential cause, Hospitality Action.

Established in 1837, Hospitality Action has offered vital assistance to all who work, or have worked, within the hospitality sector in the UK. The charity has been a lifeline for countless individuals facing various challenges, including mental health issues and financial hardships, and Rutland Hall is proud to be taking an active role in supporting the charity through the walking initiative.

Having so far raised £701 and counting, the team at Rutland Hall are hoping to reach their £1,000 target with the help of donations from the local community.

Speaking on behalf of the team at Rutland Hall Hotel, Joanne White, Managing Director, said: "We were thrilled to be a part of this incredible initiative that brought our community together for a meaningful cause. Rutland Hall is committed to promoting mental health awareness and supporting our amazing hospitality industry. The Walk for Wellbeing isn't just a walk; it's a collective step toward a brighter future, and we're proud to have played our part.

"We are hoping to meet our target of £1,000 for Hospitality Action and would be grateful for any donations from our local friends and partners if they are able to support us in our fundraising efforts!"

Molly Tomlin, Sales and Marketing Executive at Rutland Hall, who played a key role in organising the event, said: "The walk was a really great way to support Hospitality Action. Friends and family chose to walk and support the cause along with us, so we were able to get to know our teammates better. We laughed, sang and confided in one another, all whilst being out and about in the fresh air appreciating the gorgeous surroundings of where we work!

Hospitality can be so busy day-to-day and we put our all into our guests' experience, so it was beneficial to take the time out to reflect, catch up with each other, and support Hospitality Action, who support people in the industry 24/7, 365 days of the year."

Participants not only enjoyed revelling in the natural beauty of Rutland Water, with its serene landscapes and tranquil waters, but were also treated to a complimentary and delicious BBQ at the finish line – a rewarding way to refuel and celebrate their achievements.

Set within 70 acres of mature parkland in the UK's smallest county, Rutland Hall Hotel offers breathtaking views and an array of facilities to suit every guest's preference, from weddings, corporate events, and special occasions.
