The Angler, formerly Orbis, in Oakham will be launching a new menu on Thursday 19 January 2023 with new chef, Gavin Austin.

The Mill Street eatery are launching their new menu following a host of changes that have taken place at the venue since summer 2022.

In September, owner, Jonathan Spencer, announced that the restaurant would be rebranding as The Angler, a 'pub for the people' with a more affordable menu and family values.

In early October Orbis closed for this dramatic revamp, reopening on 26 October as The Angler, offering an evening of free pizza to celebrate its return.

Since then, they have suffered from a heavy rotation of staff, understaffing, illness and faulty heating.

However, it appears that the team are getting back on track, with owner, Jonathan Spencer, sharing news of a new head chef and new menu, set to be introduced on 19 January 2023.

Jonathan Spencer said: "We are going into partnership with acclaimed Chef, Gavin Austin. We are going to focus on using local ingredients to make great food at a great price point. 95% of dishes are below £10, and we are using local suppliers like Northfield Farm for our beef patties and Hambleton for our buns."
