Following the announcement of the closure of popular local restaurant Orbis on Friday the 16th of September 2022, the restaurant owner has announced that the venue will be returning as a 'pub for the people' called The Angler.

Orbis owner and manager Jonathan Spencer shared these new plans in a social media post shared on Tuesday the 20th of September:

We promised our Oakham journey had not ended here, and we meant that.

This historic building deserves a little bit more of our time, speaking of history, we have decided to take it back to its original hay-day "The Angler is back".

With an ethos focused around being a pub for the people of Oakham, serving up a cracking pint, brilliant food and being able to host some amazing community events right in centre of town. But best of all with a new affordable price point for all of the family.

More details of what food you can expect to be released over the coming days but a few things we can confirm.

  • Volcanic stone steaks
  • Stone baked pizzas
  • Boujee burgers
  • Sunday roast carvery

For all those true Orbis fans, we are also very pleased to confirm not only will you be able to get your full Orbis experience still in Stamford. these five absolute signatures will also still be available here in Oakham.

  • Bang bang cauliflower
  • Cornflake chicken
  • Pornstar martini
  • Crispy chilli squid
  • Truffle mac n cheese

All of the above food and drink will be available for takeaway via delivery or collection.

And if things couldn't get much better for those with nostalgia, we are very pleased to announce that we will also be bringing the Cellar Bar back to life with regular FREE music events and open until late every weekend!

The Angler will be reopening on October 26th 2022, with Orbis set to close on the 8th of October for the rebranding to begin.
