Major milestone for Nub News

1st Jun 2019 | Local News

Today marks a major milestone for Nub News as our five hyper-local websites have romped past 100,000 page views.

To say we are delighted is an understatement.

We launched the websites - Oakham, Stamford, Bourne, Deepings and Grantham - on March 1 and in the three months since then our readership has far exceeded our expectations.

The actual figure at close of play yesterday was 102,000 making it all too clear that there is room for a new trusted news outlet in the five towns and their surrounding villages.

Nub News CEO Karl Hancock says: "Around the UK, the Nub News mission is to put 'your town in your pocket' - making reliable, trustworthy local news easily accessible on all devices, but particularly mobile.

"In Lincolnshire and Rutland, our regional editor Kay Kelly is delivering that with a steady stream of interesting, often exclusive stories and features and the public are responding.

"For the five websites to achieve over 100,000 page views in three months is testament to Kay's ability to know what makes a great local news story, publish it quickly and - in many instances - break the news ahead of our established competitors.

"She's been a local newspaper journalist and news editor pretty much all of her working life and high-calibre journalists like Kay will be critical to the success of Nub News going forward.

"Combining this expertise with the growing concept of community publishing – giving local businesses, organisations, charities, schools and sports clubs a platform to self-publish their own news and set their own agendas – is essential for us.

"This mix is clearly proving popular in Lincolnshire and Rutland and we are delighted with the reaction so far from the local communities in which we are operating."

Page views are just part of the story.

Our ever-increasing family of 'Nubbers', who consistently contribute interesting, relevant and well-read content and event listings, also play a key role in our success.

Nub News is unique in that it lets you self-publish using the Nub It buttons found on the home page for news and what's on page for events listings. It's quick, easy and, of course, free.

All submitted content is moderated before going live by our experienced team of journalists - no fake news guaranteed.

If you want any advice or guidance about self-publishing or want to talk to me about a news story then don't hesitate to e-mail [email protected] or call 07803 723233.

And, don't forget, the websites also feature live travel and weather information, events listings, classifieds, properties for sale and jobs - all localised to each area.
