Man seriously injured in Uppingham collision

A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a collision on the A47 in Uppingham during the early hours of this morning (Monday).

Police were called at 2.50am today to the incident which involved a red Porsche car.

No other vehicles were involved in the collision.

The driver, an 18-year-old man, has been taken to University Hospital of Coventry where he currently remains.

A road closure has been put in place in the area following the incident to allow initial enquiries to take place.

Officers are also appealing to anyone with any information in relation to the collision to make contact.

Detective Constable Kasie Carter said: "The incident happened during the early hours of the morning but we would ask that if anyone does have any information in relation to the incident that they make contact with us.

"Did you witness the incident or see the vehicle being driven beforehand? Do you have any dashcam footage from the area at the time which could assist our investigation? Anyone with any information is urged to make contact with us."
