Long-returning Rutland Osprey Maya has laid four eggs so far this Spring – a huge win for the Rutland Osprey Project and Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust.

Maya, who has been at Rutland since 2008 and laying in the same nest since 2010, is one of the most successful breeding female, having raised an amazing 38 chicks since her arrival.

She returned to the Manton Bay nest on 17th March this year, after having to fight off female 25(10) for her spot.

Maya has now laid 4 eggs, the first at 6pm on 2nd April and the fourth this morning (11th April). Along with her partner 33(11), Maya is busy incubating her eggs which are expected to start hatching in early to mid-May.

Maya, 33(11) and their 4 eggs can be watched via the live nest cam by Rutland Osprey Project on their website or follow their Facebook for regular updates on what the Opsrey are up to.
