Meet Rutland Police at beat surgeries as the team tackle drug use, theft and more
Rutland Police have two upcoming beat surgeries where locals can share their feedback and voice concerns about local trouble-spots and much more.
In their latest newsletter, the Rutland policing team have announced two upcoming beat surgery dates and shared their priorities with the local community when it comes to tackling crime across the county.
The team on the Oakham and Barleythorpe beat wrote: "One of the priorities for the team is to deal with drug dealing in and around Oakham – particularly the open spaces, parks, alleyways and private addresses.
"Officers and PCSO's have been patrolling these areas. Officers work in conjunction with the Rutland County Council and with support from our response officers who patrol 24/7. PC Robinson would like to reassure residents that the issue is not widespread across Oakham but limited to small areas within the town."
The March beat surgery for Oakham and Barleythorpe will take place at Oakham Library from 10am - 11am on Tuesday 19 March.
Meanwhile, the Rutland North beat team have been dealing with theft within the rural community.
They shared: "The Rutland north team have been consulting with the residents of Rutland north and farm equipment theft is recognised as a high priority for many of our residents. Op Vitality is a police operation set up to help reduce rural criminality. Officers provide a visible presence during the hours of darkness to the rural community. Active stop checks are being completed on vehicles moving in the area between the hours of 21pm and 6am."
The March beat surgery for Rutland North will take place at Essendine village hall from 11am – 1pm on Saturday 9 March 2024.
In the meantime, you can report crime to the team via the Leicestershire Police website or you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 1141.
