Police are appealing for help to trace a missing 56-year-old man from Ipswich, who his family believes may be in Rutland.

Alan Amos was last seen between 4am and 4.30am yesterday (Tuesday) morning, when he left his home address to go to work.

Concerns were raised when Alan subsequently did not report for work and he has failed to return home or contact any friends or family. Alan did not take his mobile phone or any personal possessions with him.

Mr Amos is described as a white, approximately 5ft 1in tall, of slim build, with short brown hair, glasses and wearing a hearing aid. He is believed to have left the house wearing his work uniform of a green jacket with black trousers.

Alan has access to his vehicle which is a beige Citroen Picasso, registration number: LY06 DND. The vehicle has large Snoopy the dog cartoon stickers on both sides.

It is believed he may have travelled in his vehicle to (or passed through) Uppingham and the general Rutland/Leicestershire area.

Police and Alan's family are concerned for his welfare and are asking anyone who has seen him - or who has any information on where he may be - to contact the duty sergeant at Landmark House in Ipswich on 101.
