In the monthly update from Leicestershire Police about matters impacting the Oakham and Barleythorpe beat, the force has shared what they have been doing to crack down on anti-social behaviour.

Through community consultations, surveys and analysing crime trends, police in Oakham and Barleythorpe have made tackling anti-social behaviour a priority for their Dedicated Neighbourhood Team.

In the monthly report, they said PCSO Lyall and PC Hughes worked closely with Community Safety and the Safer Streets Teams to tackle anti-social behaviour in areas identified as hotspots.

According to the report: 'Through joint patrols, engagement with residents and local businesses, and targeted interventions, we have identified several perpetrators, issued advice and warnings where appropriate, and issued a Section 59 warning for the anti-social use of a vehicle.'

Officers have also been focussing on improving road safety.

In July, PCSO Lyall, PC Hughes and response officers have been actively addressing the concerns of residents, especially related to a lack of adherence to 30mph zones.

They have carried out targeted speed enforcement in speeding hotspots with both mobile speed detection equipment and high-visibility patrols to deter offending drivers.

Additionally, the Oakham team has been continuing to tackle drug-related roles and have identified and arrested several suspects for drug offenses, helping to disrupt criminal activity in the area.

Officers have also carried out stop checks at locations of concern, which has been valuable for intelligence gathering and supporting ongoing investigations.
