Alicia Kearns, MP for Rutland and Stamford, has announced the winner of her Rutland and Stamford's Favourite Pub Awards.

Residents cast almost 2,500 votes in the competition, which was launched by the MP to celebrate the vital role local pubs play in the community, as well as highlight the current challenges facing pubs.

The Woodhouse Arms in Corby Glen was crowned the favourite pub, with The Griffin Inn in Irnham and The Green Dragon in Ryhall named as joint runners-up.

Owner of the Woodhouse Arms, Amanda Clayton said: 'We're absolutely thrilled and incredibly proud to have been named Rutland and Stamford's Favourite Pub.

'Pubs are facing challenging times, so the continued support of our lovely customers means more than ever.

'We're grateful to everyone who took the time to vote for us.'

Alicia Kearns said: 'A huge congratulations to the very well-deserving Woodhouse Arms and our runners up, it's been fantastic to see just how much our locals mean to you all.

'Our winner is clearly beloved in Corby Glen and beyond, it's wonderful to meet such a powerhouse group of women running such a warm and welcoming pub.

'I'loved shining a spotlight on all of the brilliant pubs we are so lucky to have across our communities, particularly when many are struggling to keep their doors open at a time of rising costs and new tax burdens.

'Please do keep supporting our wonderful pubs – whether that's popping in for a drink or a bite to eat, every visit really does make a difference to keeping them at the heart of our communities.'
