Nearly all Rutland children get their primary school choice
Nearly all Rutland children starting school this year will get their school of their first choice.
Friday 16 April was National Offer Day for children who are due to start primary school in September.
Ahead of this year's National Offer Day, Rutland County Council received and processed 344 applications for September 2021 primary school admissions.
The council says a total of 332 children (96.5 per cent) were offered their first-choice school.
Of the 344 applications, 343 (99.7 percent) were offered a place at one of their preferred schools.
Only one applicant had none of their preferences met for first, second or third choices of schools, but did receive an offer from an alternative school instead.
Councillor David Wilby, Cabinet Member for Education, said: "We hope that parents and children will be happy with the offers they've received from schools for September 2021. We are delighted that very nearly all our Children have been offered one of their preferred choices and we still have some time to try and make it a full house.
"Once again, we've seen a high proportion of first choice offers for primary school starters and there are no children in Rutland without the offer of a school place. The process for responding to offers remains unchanged, so please reply as soon as you can. Further information and guidance is also available through our Admissions Team."
Rutland parents and carers have 14 days to confirm if they wish to accept or decline the place they have been offered for their child in September.
Details of how to respond are included in the offer email or letter, and more information about school admissions is available online at: www.rutland.gov.uk/admissions
