The fire service in Rutland has a new boss.

At today's Combined Fire Authority meeting, Callum Faint was appointed as Chief Fire and Rescue Officer.

Callum has been serving as Interim Chief Fire and Rescue Officer since September 2020, first joining Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service as Temporary Assistant Chief Fire Officer in July 2019. Prior to this, he served with Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service for 24 years.

Fire Authority Chairman Mr Nicholas Rushton said: "On behalf of the Combined Fire Authority, I am very pleased to announce that Mr Callum Faint has today been appointed as Chief Fire and Rescue Officer.

"Callum brings a wealth of experience to the role, and I am confident that he will only continue to build upon progress made since his appointment as Interim Chief Fire and Rescue Officer last year."

Callum said: "I am incredibly proud to be appointed as the Chief Fire and Rescue Officer. Working this position on an interim basis for the past eight months has been challenging, but incredibly rewarding.

"I'm really looking forward to continuing to work with colleagues and partner agencies to ensure we deliver a first class service to the communities of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, working together to ensure Safer People, Safer Places."
