Oakham School have opened their new gym area.

The gym is open to the public, who can pay for a monthly membership or use the facilities on a pay-as-you-go basis.

This comes as Catmose Sports Centre is given a second chance following huge backlash from the general public when Rutland County Council announced the closure of the centre in March.

It appears that the centre is now safe until March 2025, although Rutland remains without a public swimming pool.

The future of the centre after March 2025 remains unconfirmed.

As such, Oakham School is drawing new members with a host of machines, weights and more at their newly-reopened facility on Kilburn Road.

Facilities include:

  • running machines
  • crosstrainers
  • rowing machines
  • benches
  • free weights
  • bar weights
  • dumbells
  • static bikes
  • and more...

A spokesperson for the school said: "We are excited to say our new Gym area in now open to all! Feel free to call in for a tour of the new area or to discuss any activities taking place within the sports centre.

"We offer pay-as-you-go from £5 per session or memberships from £15 per month. Please contact one of the team for more information at 01572 758754 or email: [email protected]."

The group are also offering a larger range of fitness classes, also open to the general public, including Aqua Fit in the school pool.
