A local pub have welcomed budgie chicks this week.

The Plough, a pet and family-friendly pub in the heart of Greetham, have announced the arrival of the two new additions to the venue this week.

The team, who regularly host animal-friendly events, and have raised money for the likes of National Military Working Dogs Memorial UK, pride themselves on being "possibly one of the most dog-friendly pubs in Rutland".

They proved this once again last week when they raised a cracking £100 by hosting a bring your pet to the pub fundraiser in aid of Mutts Nutts Rescue.

Now, they are the talk of the town for other reasons...

The team shared: "We have amazing news.... we have babies!

"In our budgie nest box, the eggs have started to hatch, and so far we have 2 babies!"

While the animal-friendly pub are keen to share their wonderful news, they have also asked visitors to refrain from coming too close to their newest in their brood.

They added: "We would ask that you admire the budgies from the carpark fence for a while and do not enter the animal gate so not to disturb them too much or rattle on the wire. Thank you."
