A new holiday club will be launching in Whissendine in 2024.

Run by Hayley Horn, Whissendine Holiday Club is an Ofsed registered, multi-activity club for children in school years one to six.

While they will not be open for the Christmas holidays, the team are working hard to get the new club ready for they big launch in February 2024, when the group will open for the half term holidays.

Hayley, a local swimming teach with Water Babies Swimming, was inspired to launch a new holiday club in the Rutland village of Whissnedine when the previous holiday club was cancelled due to the owner moving on to another role.

Hayley explained: "Our leaders all have children at the Whissendine Village school, and bring different skill sets to bring to the club. We intend on creating a relaxed atmosphere where there are structured activities, but the children do not have to take part in anything they don't want to, and where everyone is gently encourage and included in everything.

"The idea for the club came from me. Previously there was a another holiday club at the Sports Club, the children loved it and unfortunately the person running it got a new job and so couldn't continue with it. We were all really disappointed, it was local, the kids loved it, and it followed the Rutland term times.

"So one day I thought, why don't I run the holiday club, and it went on from there. I looked into it and realised I needed to Ofsted registered, so started the process.

"I love working with children, my job in term time is as a Water Babies Swimming Teacher at Oakham C of E School, so I have lots of experience working with them."

This new holiday club will be based at Whissendine Sports Club and will be open through all the holidays except Christmas, on a Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Initially the group will be open from 9am until 3pm, and if there is enough demand, the team will look to extend these hours in the future.

The club offers multi activities for children in years one to six, in a "relaxed atmosphere, where children can take part in the activities they would like to."

The price is £25 per day, and childcare vouchers and tax free childcare payments will be accepted.

Hayley concluded: "I am really excited about this new venture, and can't wait for the first session in February half term.

"We have lots of ideas and with the help of the children we will build a fun and friendly holiday club."
