In a surprise statement posted last night (14th May), Oakham Town Council announced that a new Mayor of Oakham Town Council and Deputy Chair has been elected.

The new Chairman of the Town Council is Councillor Chris Nix, who was deputy under the previous Mayor Paul Ainsley. The new Deputy Chair is now Councillor Anna Douthwaite.

Recently, there has been a lot of infighting within Oakham Town Council, with tensions appearing to have built up to this point.

Oakham Nub News wishes out-going Mayor Paul Ainsley the best and would like to congratulate both Cllr Nix and Cllr Douthwaite on their new roles.
