It looks like we have a sunny weekend coming up and there is a host of events taking place in and around Oakham and Rutland, from plant sales and flower arranging to live music and great local food.

Plant Sale at Edith Weston Village Hall

What is better in sunny weather than browsing beautiful plants ready for your home and garden?

On Sunday 18th May between 9.30am and 2pm, Edith Weston Village Hall will have a great selection of plants, perennials, annuals and garden accessories, as well as tea and cake. The plant sale is to raise money for their village charities.

GUS Band at Oakham School Chapel

From 7.30pm on Thursday 15th May, the GUS Band will be holding a live performance at Oakham School Chapel.

Performing selected pieces written and arranged by musical director Christopher Bond, based on the theme of The Wizard of Oz, the GUN Band is based in Northampton and regularly perform across the Midlands.

Tickets are £10 in advance online or £12 on the door, children go free.

Guided Garden Tour of Easton Walled Gardens

Join Ursula Cholmeley, garden owner, or Head Gardener Tim Metcalfe Kemp for a fabulous tour of the stunning Easton Walled Gardens.

Running every Friday in May, enjoy the seasonal tulips, blossoms, cowslips, perennials and wildflowers. Refreshments will be available before or after the tour from The Coffee House or Applestore.

Normal admission applies but there is no need to book the tour, just meet in the Courtyard at 2pm. For more information and accessibility details, click here.

Rutland Flower Club Spring Workshop

Rutland Flower Club are holding their first workshop of the year, welcoming everyone to come along and learn how to create your own beautiful spring arrangement, no prior experience needed.

The workshop will be run by Sue Sewel and will take place on Saturday 17th May at Wing Village Hall between 10.30am to 1.30pm.

The workshop costs £15 per person.

Tom Ball Spotlight at Stamford Corn Exchange Theatre

Britain's Got Talent's Tom Ball is embarking on his first major UK tour following the release of his latest album Curtain Call. He will performing at Stamford on Friday 16th May.

The concert will start at 7.30pm and tickets are available at the Stamford Corn Exchange Theatre website.

Thursday Night Dinner at Fox and Hounds

The team at The Fox & Hounds in Knossington be hosting their weekly Thursday night special on 15th May. This week they are serving up Tuscan style meatballs, creamy basil and butternut ragu with crème fraiche.

For just £12.95, every week they put on a popular meal deal, and you can head down to 6 Somerby Road, Knossington to join the fun.
