A local electrical engineer has sent out an apology to residents of Oakham's South Street ahead of noisy works set to take place this week.

Work on South Street has been taking place for a few days, but noisy works are scheduled to take place this week, prompting one considerate contractor to let his followers, and local residents, know of the disturbances on social media.

Steve from Multi Services Electrical said: "Over the last couple of days I have been quietly working away on preparation work for some electrical renovation work at a property.

"Over the next few days I'm afraid the noise levels will increase considerably.

"Please accept my sincere apologies in advance. I can assure you that every effort will be made to keep noise to an absolute minimum, where possible. It is however, impossible to chase cables into walls quietly.

"Noisy work (chasing) will only be carried out between the hours of 9am - 4:30pm. Outside of these hours there may be the odd burst of a drill or hammering, but this will be within the hours of 9am - 5:30pm.

"If you have any questions regarding this project or even a small electrical question of your own then please do not hesitate to get in touch. I am very approachable and I'm always happy to help."
