There is a fantastic range of jobs on offer this week in and around Oakham, including casual theatre opportunities, sporting endeavours, and catering roles in both Gates Garden Centre and Rutland Farm Park.

  1. Uppingham School Theatre Technician
Uppingham School are looking for a Theatre Technician to look after their 300 seat theatre. The role is casual and will pay £12.54 per hour. You will:

work under the supervision of the Senior Technician/Set Designer

build scenic elements for the School's theatrical productions

assist with the daily running and maintenance of Uppingham Theatre, Williams Drama Studio, workshop and backstage spaces as required

work to produce sets under time constraints

be responsible for the maintenance and repair of workshop equipment a

move sets during live School performances to achieve scene changes. You will receive:

Gates Garden Centre are looking for enthusiastic and hardworking Kitchen Porters to join their Restaurant and Coffee Shop teams on a full and part-time basis. Wage will depend upon age and experience. You will:

keep the kitchen clean and tidy

keep on top of dirty pots coming from the coffee shop and kitchen

unload food deliveries

clean and organise store areas, fridges and freezers

assist the chefs with basic food prep

have a positive attitude. You will receive:

  1. Rutland Farm Park Sunday Assistant
Rutland Farm Park are looking to recruit a person to support the team as a Sunday Assistant. The successful applicant will be require to work from 11:00am until 4:00pm. Wage is not specified but will be dependent upon age of the applicants. Applicants must be over 16. You will:

welcome visitors and take entrance money

assist with taking and serving food orders

clear tables and undertake housekeeping duties

good with money

a cheerful welcoming disposition

have strong communication skills. You will receive:

28 days annual leave pro rata.

  1. Rutland Farm Park Tearoom Manager

Rutland Farm Park are also looking to appoint an experienced hands-on cook to lead a small team of staff in the tearoom, pay desk, and gift shop.

You will:

be responsible for opening and closing

handle cash confidently

monitor ordering and purchase tearoom stock

handle housekeeping responsibilities

curate special events menus

have a clean driving licence

have a level 3 food hygiene and level 3 food labelling qualification

have allergen training.

  1. Oakham School Sports Fellow
Now for something a little bit different, Oakham School are seeking to appoint a Graduate Sports Fellows to start in September 2022 across the following sports: Rugby, Cricket, Netball, Lacrosse, Athletics, Tennis, Hockey and Football. Remuneration will be £12,500 (non-resident tutor) or £14,045 (resident tutor) divided into 10 or 12 month payments. Accommodation (including bills) is included and free meals are provided during term-time. You will:

play a specific role within their own area of expertise

deliver coaching sessions

mentor individuals

provide one-on-one coaching

take roles within teams and in sports throughout the year.
