Rutland Police say they are still 'open for business and pro-active' as they seize vehicles and drugs and stop people attending barbecues.

Melton Police said on twitter yesterday: "We've recently had at least 7 people arrested for the supply of drugs. We have seized at least 12 vehicles and given around 15 Covid-19 tickets."

On Thursday, Rutland Police also tweeted that they issued six Covid-19 penalty tickets to men driving from London and Leicester together for a barbecue.

Oakham Police commented: "I think the guidance is clear and where necessary officers will issue tickets. Having a BBQ over a hundred miles from your place of residence is one I reckon?"

On Wednesday, Oakham Police also issued a Covid-19 penalty ticket to a motorcyclist who said he was out riding to test its engine.

Rutland Police also found some drugs during a search on Wednesday near the border with Lincolnshire.

The incidents come as the College of Policing issued guidelines on "What constitutues a reasonable excuse to leave the place you live."
