Each month, Oakham Book Swap support a different local or national charity, and this month, they are supporting Rutland's very own Prickleback Urchin Hedgehog Rescue centre.
Oakham Book Swap is a community-led project that hosts a pop-up book swap box on Tyne Road, Oakham. Residents are invited to pick up a new book or drop off unwanted books to share with other readers.
The swap contains fiction and non-fiction books for anyone aged 3 - 93, and is open to all. It opens when the weather permits and the team host regular 'Book Swap' events to raise much-needed funds for local and national charities.
The book swap team shared the news on their social media that, this February, they will be supporting a local hedgehog rescue group: "We're delighted to announce that our chosen charity for February is the fabulous Prickleback Urchin Hedgehog Rescue, a Rutland-based self-funded hedgehog rescue.
"Throughout the month and at our next Big Book Swap on Sunday 12th February, we'll be sharing lots of information about their work... we even discovered that they have cared for poorly hedgehogs in our area of Oakham, nursing them back to health and releasing them back into the wild."
The team will also be stocking a range of hedgehog care leaflets available in the book boxes kept outside their Tyne Road location - when the weather permits.
The team concluded: "All monetary donations received throughout February will go to the charity. In the meantime, please do follow their page!"
