Oakham Canal Green Corridor Project has taken to Facebook to appeal for donations of woodchips so they can maintain footpaths.

They posted on Facebook saying: "Calling all tree surgeons and gardeners. Our woodchip store is now empty, meaning we can't maintain the footpaths through the winter.

"If you can, dump any chips at our storage location off Ashwell Road, just past the end of Oakham Enterprise Park (going north), we'd be very grateful."

The Canal Green Corridor Project also hold working groups every month to help maintain the paths and areas around the canal, improving access for local people. Their next working group is 16th February between 9am and 12.30. For more information on these working groups and the Oakham Canal Green Project, visit their Facebook page.
