Oakham firefighters' charity car wash raises more than £900

Oakham firefighters raised an fantastic £903 for The Firefighters Charity at Saturday's charity car wash.

More than 100 vehicles were cleaned at the town's South Street fire station, with money also raised from a fundraising raffle and cake stall.

Firefighter Matt Basey told Oakham Nub News: "We had a fantastic response from the local community, by either getting their cars washed or donating to or supporting the raffle.

"Many local businesses also donated some fantastic prizes and helped us raise over £900."

The event was part of the National Car Wash League, The Firefighters Charity's largest national fundraising event of the year.

The Fire Fighters Charity 'rescues the rescuers', supporting the fire and rescue community through a range of services including nursing, recuperation, rehabilitation and health and wellbeing services.
