Contact Lens Recycling Scheme Launched

By Guest 26th Nov 2021

Ever wondered why you can't recycle your contact lenses? Well now you can!

Simply collect your used lenses, and the blister packs and foil covers they come in, and drop them all off at Simmons Optometrists on Burley Road in Oakham.

Not only does it help reduce the estimated 725 million contact lenses that are sent to landfill in the UK alone, it will also benefit a great local charity, called Twenty Twenty.

Every time a collection is taken by Terracycle a donation is made to Twenty Twenty to support their work helping to support young people in the East Midlands who have grown up in homes where poverty, violence and neglect.

It's a fantastic initiative and is easy to access - it doesn't matter which make of soft lenses you use or where you get them from - please get in touch with Simmons if you want any to find out more.
