Oakham: Fresh call to have your say as the Future Rutland Conversation continues

A months-long engagement exercise between Rutland County Council and Rutlanders continues.

The county council is calling on people to take part in further consultation, even if they did not first time around.

The Future Rutland Conversation was first launched at the start of April as a chance for families, businesses and visitors to Rutland to comment on a range of important issues, from the environment and transport to health and education.

By gathering this feedback from people of all ages and backgrounds, the council hopes to produce a new shared vision for the county, to help local organisations with planning and decision-making.

On July 2, a series of ten reports was published summarising all the comments, feedback and survey responses gathered by Future Rutland from April to June this year.

Residents and other stakeholders were invited to review the findings and provide any further feedback on what had been shared, even if they did not take part in the initial conversation.

Over a three-week review period ending on Sunday 25 July, 2,200 visits were made to the Future Rutland website to view the summary reports and supporting information. The reports themselves were downloaded more than 1,500 times.

Mark Andrews, Chief Executive of Rutland County Council, said: "The aim of the Future Rutland Conversation is to develop a new, shared Vision for Rutland that belongs to our communities.

"The first part of Future Rutland was about listening and understanding what's important to Rutlanders of all ages.

"The most recent stage was intended to play back everything we've heard and make sure it's representative of what matters to those who live in Rutland, work here, or visit the county.

"Next, we're moving on to developing a draft of the new Vision based on everything that's been shared since April.

"Thank you to everyone who has taken part in the Future Rutland Conversation so far. This won't be the last chance to get involved."

All the feedback gathered by Future Rutland since April, including any additional comments received during the latest stage of the conversation, will now be used to shape a new shared Vision for the county.

A draft document outlining the Vision is expected to be published in early September to encourage even more discussion and feedback.

The reports and supporting information published as part of the Future Rutland Conversation are still available to read and can be found online at: www.rutland.gov.uk/futurerutland.
