Oakham's Centenary Field is looking even better thanks to the completion of some improvements.

The town council agreed to the work in March to continue the development of Centenary Field, which was created in 2018, to commemorate the First World War,

As Nub News reported previously, the work included anti-slip decking, better fencing, a kissing gate and new bins.

The work also saw some town councillors undertaking some of these improvements themselves by removing chain link fencing from the wooded area.

Oakham Mayor Zoe Nealson said on Facebook: "We are very pleased to share that the contractors have now finished, the work on updating the entrances has been completed and there is now anti-slip decking at the entrance off Barleythorpe Road and Huntsmans Drive.

"As we head in to autumn and winter these improvements should make a real difference to regular walkers through the field."
