Yesterday, 22 December 2022, Oakham Mayor, Sally-Anne Wadsworth visited the St John & St Anne complex and gave a gift to each of the residents.

The Hospital of St John the Evangelist and of St Anne in Oakham is believed to be the oldest charity in the county of Rutland, having been established for the provision of Almshouse accommodation in 1399.

Today it has over 100 properties available to accommodate beneficiaries who are in receipt of a state retirement pension, of limited financial means, able to live independently, and living in Rutland at the time of application, or have significant links to the county.

Yesterday, the residents of this retirement housing complex and Almshouse Charity were visited by Cllr Sally-Anne Wadsworth, Oakham Mayor, who took gifts for every resident,

Cllr Sally-Anne Wadsworth said: "On Thursday, I had the pleasure of gifting all the residents of St John and St Annes with a small present and wished them all a merry Christmas. St John and St Annes is made up of the flats/bungalows on South St and the flats on William Dalby Walk. I would like to thanks Bill the owner of Direct Cosmetics on Long Row who donated the items for us to give away."

Sally-Anne Wadsworth met a range of residents to wish them a Happy Christmas.
