Following up on this, the CQC have recently carried out a 6-month inspection, and most aspects of the centre have been rated Good, excluding the safety of services, which Requires Improvement.

The Oakham Medical Practice team have announced that they are "pleased to say that the follow-up report, published this week, confirms that we have gone from a position of 'Inadequate' to an overall rating of 'Good'. This means that we are seen as performing well and meeting expectations."

The team added: "We would like to acknowledge the support given by people to help us to achieve this rating. While we fully recognise that there are improvements that we can always continue to make, we feel that this rating acknowledges the hard work undertaken particularly by our staff, Patient Participation Group, patients and stakeholders over the last few months.

"We always strive for continued improvements and will continue to review and take action to ensure that patient experiences and satisfaction is a priority, ensuring that the care and treatment is always provided in a safe way to patient."

A CQC spokesperson has said: "At our previous inspection in April 2022, the practice was rated as Inadequate overall and Inadequate for the key questions of effective and well-led. The key questions of safe and responsive were rated as requires improvement, whilst caring was awarded a good rating. The service was placed into special measures.

"This inspection in November 2022 was a comprehensive inspection including a site visit to review progress with the action plan the provider had sent us following the last inspection, and to reassess their special measures status. Following this inspection the practice is now rated as Good overall and for all the key questions with the exception of safe, which remains rated as Requires Improvement."
