Weldon Village Academy is a new school currently being built by Meridian Trust and the Department for Education in collaboration with BAM Construction and Mott MacDonald.
It will be situated on land off Oundle Road, Weldon, near Corby and will deliver 1,500 places to pupils across Rutland and North Northamptonshire.
At the start of the month, educational and civic leaders added their signatures to a steel beam that was subsequently lifted into place by the construction team on site. While the school is currently a building site, it is expected to open in September 2023.
Upon opening, only year 7 pupils will be accepted, those pupils then moving up the school until, in September 2029, the school will facilitate year groups 7 through to 13.
Details on how to apply for the school are currently being agreed by the DfE and the North Northamptonshire Local Authority (LA).
Details of this process; including relevant Policies, Application Forms and information regarding an Appeals process will be available on the Meridian website in due course.
