Rutland parents can breathe a sigh of relief as 100 percent of new school starters are offered their preferred schools today.

Today, Tuesday the 18th of April is National Offer Day for children who are due to start primary school in September 2022.

Ahead of this year's National Offer Day, Rutland County Council received and processed 313 applications for September 2022 primary school admissions.

A total of 299 children (95.5 percent) were offered their first-choice school. All 313 applicants (100 percent) were offered a place at one of their preferred schools.

In march, 99 percent of secondary school starters also received their preferred choice of schools, with 331 out of 333 applications processed seeing success. This tops the previous year which saw 97 percent receive their preferred choice.

Equally, the primary school applications have seen an increase in success from last year, which saw 99.7 percent receive offers from their preferred schools.

2021 did see 30 more students applying for primary places, which may account for the improvement in these statistics.

From today, Rutland parents and carers have 14 days to confirm if they wish to accept or decline the place they have been offered for their child in September.

Details of how to respond are included in the offer email or letter, and more information about school admissions is available online

Best of luck to all of the new school starters as they begin their journeys through the education system in September.
