A remarkable achievement has put Oakham firmly on the international sporting map after 22-year-old Georgina Harrison secured a silver medal at the World Powerlifting Bench Press Championships in Warsaw, Poland.

Georgina earned her place on the world stage after winning the British Bench Press Championships in March this year.

Representing Great Britain at the World Championships on 27th May, she produced an outstanding bench press of 100kg while weighing just 56.59kg, earning her second place in the world in her category.

The result marks a huge milestone in Georgina's powerlifting career and highlights the growing success of strength sports within the local community.

Georgina trains at Limitless Gym in Oakham, a facility that only opened its doors in January 2026 but has already established itself as a powerhouse for competitive athletes.
