An Oakham pub and restaurant has been named the top venue in Rutland in the 2023 National Pub & Bar Awards.

The Admiral Hornblower on Oakham High Street was dubbed the top pub in Rutland in the regional round of the competition.

The awards, hosted by the Great Food Club, were handed out earlier this month and saw a range of independent local pubs and bars being judged on their food, drink, atmosphere and more.

The team said: "Huge congratulations to the County Winners of the National Pub & Bar Awards 2023, named earlier in April!"

The Great Food Club comprises a website, annual printed book and app that shine a light on and celebrate the East Midlands' best food and drink independents.

Hambleton Hall on Hambleton Peninsula, Rutland Water, and The Olive Branch in Clipsham, Oakham, have also been recognised by the club.
