An Oakham pub is set to temporarily close following a kitchen fire last night (February 23).

Oakham High Street was closed to all traffic last night as firefighters dealt with the blaze at The Admiral Hornblower.

The entire hotel was closed last night, with guests and staff all safely evacuated.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

"Due to a fire in our kitchen, we're temporarily closing our doors to ensure safety and repair damages," the pub posted on social media this morning.

"Thankfully, the situation was quickly controlled.

"We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

"Stay tuned for our reopening date - we can't wait to welcome you back soon!"

The extent of the damage to the Admiral Hornblower is unclear at this time.

The hotel found alternative accommodation for its guests.
