Old Oakhamians Jack Van Poortvliet (19) and Sam Costelow (19) have been selected to play in the U20 Rugby Six Nations England and Wales teams, respectively, for the second year.

Jack was due to captain the England team when the opening matches started yesterday.

Jack and Sam left the School in 2019 and are graduates of the Tigers Academy programme.

Jack plays for the Tigers 1st XV, whilst Sam plays for The Scarlets.

They both already have a significant number of caps between them, with Sam also having played in the U20 World Cup Tournament in Rosario in 2019.

Director of Rugby Andy Rice said, "It is fantastic seeing them having the opportunity to represent both England and Wales in the Six Nations for a second time. It is an exciting time for them, and we are very proud."

Meanwhile, in other significant Oakham rugby news, OO Matt Smith, who played professional rugby with Leicester Tigers for 14 years before retiring in 2019, has renewed his contract as Assistant Coach with the Tigers ahead of the 2021/22 season.
