Rutland Food and Farming Festival cancelled

The first Rutland Food and Farming Festival has been cancelled.

The event at Rutland Showground was to be held as an alternative to the annual Rutland Show, which was also cancelled last year due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Tickets had already gone on sale, as previously reported by Nub News.

The cancellation of the event was announced earlier this week, following the Prime Minister last Monday postponing 'Freedom Day' when Covid-19 restrictions would be eased from June 21 until July 19.

Rutland Showground commented: "The postponement of the relaxation of Covid 19 restrictions and the rise in in the number of Delta cases has led the Rutland Agricultural Society to conclude that, in the interest of public health, the Rutland Food and Farming Festival scheduled for the 11th July must be cancelled.

"We will contact all those involved and do all that we can to minimise the impact of the decision."
