By Evie Payne

19th Feb 2022 | Local News

Storm Eunice has prompted an influx of weather warnings across the county and the country and both the Council and Police have warned residents to stay inside where possible.

Leicestershire Police have stated: "The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for Leicestershire and Rutland as Storm Eunice hits the UK.

"Strong winds have been forecast both today and tomorrow, with heavy rain. There may be some snow over higher ground.

"Disruption to travel is likely and we are urging people across our force area to minimise travel where possible.

"Any information and advice regarding road closures will be published on our social media channels."

Further information can be found by visiting the met office website.

Meanwhile Rutland County Council have reminded everyone to take their bins in to avoid injury and damage caused should they be blown about in the predicted high winds.

Residents can contact Rutland County Council by calling 01572 722577 or emailing [email protected].

To contact the Council with any out of hours emergencies you can call: 01858464499.

Alternatively you can contact Leicestershire police by calling their non-emergency number: 101 or filling in an online contact form.
