Oakham Tesco in Easter Egg Appeal

By The Editor 18th Mar 2021

The Tesco Superstore in Oakham is inviting customers to donate Easter eggs in the store for a local care home.

There will be a trolley in store for customers to donate any Easter eggs that they wish too. Tesco will top up any donations made.

Iain Ormiston, fresh food operations manager, told Nub News: "Covid has been hard on everyone, we want to do what we can to support our local community.

"Due to restrictions we haven't been able to get out into the community in the past year. This year as it becomes safe to do so we really want to help support or local community.

"In the past 3 months we have donated £3000 to local organisations though our bags for help scheme. We really want to help our local community if we can."

Iain added the store also wants customers to know that Tesco is a safe space for everyone or anyone that might be in trouble or needs to feel safe.

In the meantime, Iain has launched a poll for people to vote on finalists as Tesco seeks its first community hero, to recognise their efforts during the lockdown/pandemic, which Nub News recently reported.

Details of the finalists can be found here.
