Oakham's Orbis restaurant launches discount dining scheme

By The Editor 1st Sep 2020

Coronavirus key workers can dine at a discount at Orbis in Oakham every Thursday this month (Sept).

Jonny Spencer, owner of the popular Church Street restaurant, is offering all customers a 25 percent discount on food on any Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday during September.

But he is making a Thursday solely for coronavirus community heroes.

"I believe massively in giving back to the community and this is my way of thanking customers for seeing us fully booked every day since we reopened on 12 August," Jonny told Oakham Nub News.

"We took part in the Government Eat Out to Help Out Scheme and now we are running our own 25 percent discount all this month - with no top limit.

"Thursday will be just for key workers, including NHS and supermarket workers, carers and teachers.

"We want to celebrate the heroes of the last six months during the pandemic."

Yesterday (Mon), Orbis saw a record number of customers in one day wine and dine since reopening - 96 in the current 34-cover restaurant.

"The 25 percent discount offer is already proving very popular and I'd suggest anyone wanting to take advantage books in advance through the website or by calling 01572 720411," added Jonny.
