Inspire2tri is a sports, fitness and rehabilitation centre based in Manton that supports local residents, clubs and community groups to help them realise their sporting and fitness goals.

Founding Director of inspire2tri Dr Mary Hardwick has been nominated for the Business Woman of the Year award with Active Together.

Mary has been nominated primarily for her work at the Community Interest Company in Manton.

One of the UK's longest running annual awards, the national Business Woman of the Year Awards celebrate the achievements of exceptional women, and highlights individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to their business, sector or wider community.

The winner will be announced at the 40th anniversary of the annual awards ceremony, taking place today, Friday the 1st of April 2022 at Hilton Birmingham Metropole. After a couple of years of absence due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the team are delighted to be back celebrating women and their achievements in business.

On top of this, inspire2tri are also making use of their Rainbow Trail, a privately accessible non-slip cloverleaf decking trail used for improving walking confidence and mobility.

The Rainbow Trail was set up using an "Inspire the Community" grant which was awarded on the 1st of May 2020 by the Lottery Community Fund.

This trail has been used over the last few months by the team and community to complete a Virtual Rutland Round walk, celebrating the 22nd anniversary of the opening of the Rutland Round.

The Rutland Round is a 65-mile walking route, devised by John Williams and Lady Margaret Kennedy, that winds in and around Rutland. It is still heavily used by walkers, attracting many tourists from across the country in the warmer months.

150 of the rehab team at inspire2tri have completed 135 miles around the 90 metre Rainbow Trail. They hope to get to 150 miles, twice around the Rutland Round!

Mary hopes that John Williams and Margaret Kennedy will be joining the team to complete the last 90 metres around the track on the 12th of April, when the Rutland Round will be celebrated by the team, community, and its creators. This remains unconfirmed, but is in the works, so watch this space!

Best of luck to Mary at the Business Women of the Year Awards today. Keep your eyes peeled here for updates.
