An Ofsted inspection has been deferred after lightning struck Casterton College yesterday afternoon, Monday 12 June 2023.

However, the incident has not delayed GCSE exams, which continue to take place today as the damage is assessed.

The school roof was damaged in yesterday's storm, resulting in the destruction of a number of power cables.

As such, students in years 7 to 10 are working from home today while the damage is assessed.

Builders and electricians are on site deciding which areas are safe. With power supplies impacted, staff are using mobile devices to set online work for the pupils continuing their studies at home.

Head teacher Carl Smith has commended the pupils for adapting to the changes.

A decision will be made later today on whether or not the school can reopen tomorrow. Parents should check for communications from the college staff.

Good luck to the pupils who are sitting their Chemistry GCSE today.
